A story is told about a soldier who was finally coming home after having fought in Vietnam.
The young man who had finished his military service called his parents from the city where he was serving: -Mom and Dad, I am coming home, but I have a favor to ask of you. I would like to bring a friend with me.

-With pleasure, we would like to meet him, they replied,
-There’s something you should know,‖ he continued.
-My friend was badly wounded in the war. He stepped on a mine and lost an arm and a leg. He has nowhere to go, and I want him to come and stay with us.

-I’m sorry to hear that, son. -Maybe we can help him find somewhere else.
-No. -No. Mom, Dad, I want him to live with us.
A sad story-Son, said his father, you don’t know what he wants from us. A handicapped person like him would be a terrible burden. We have our own life, we can’t let something like that interfere with it.I think you should forget about this friend of yours and go home. He’ll take care of himself. His son hung up the phone right then. The family didn’t hear from him for a while. But a few days later, they got a call from the police. They found out that their son had fallen from a high building and died.

The police believed it was suicide. The grieving parents were taken to the city morgue to identify their son’s body. They recognized him and were horrified to learn something else they didn’t know: Their son had only one arm and one leg. Many of us are like the family in this story; it is very easy for us to love people who are beautiful or who we enjoy being with, but we cannot love people who make us feel uncomfortable or uncomfortable around them. We prefer to stay away from people who are not as healthy, beautiful or smart as us.
